Theatre as a learning environment for secondary education
Theatre challenges. It shakes up, prompts thinking and makes room for new perspectives. Especially for young people in secondary education, theatre is a powerful way to better understand the world - and themselves.
At PLT, we use theatre as a place for meeting, deepening and reflection. Our offer connects to themes that are current in the classroom: from identity and society to language, history and citizenship.
Together with teachers, we build meaningful learning experiences, both inside and outside the classroom.
More than just performances
Private school performances
Would you like to take your class to a performance in peace and quiet? You can! For a number of performances, it is possible to book a private school performance during school hours. We agree on the date and time together so that it fits into your schedule. The brochure shows for each performance whether a private time is possible. We will discuss the costs individually, depending on the chosen performance.
Technical tour - behind the scenes
What does the stage look like up close? What happens between lights out and curtain up? And who actually takes care of the sound, the set or the right spotlight?
During this guided tour, students get a unique look behind the scenes of the theatre. A technician or teacher from PLT takes them along the stage, the dressing rooms and the hidden corridors that are normally only for performers.
We conclude with an interactive assignment around light, sound and scenery. This way, pupils not only learn how everything works, but also who is involved in a performance.

Together we make culture accessible
Theatre Heerlen, HuB. Theatre Kerkrade and the Toon Hermans Theatre Sittard join forces in this joint educational offer. In this way, we make art, culture and theatre accessible to all pupils in the region.
Because theatre is more than watching. It is experiencing, feeling and discovering.

Last-Minute discount for students
With our Last-Minute system, students and pupils get a discount on tickets for performances and concerts in PLT. For a large number of performances in our programme, you pay € 12.50 per ticket on presentation of your school or student ID card. Be quick though, because gone = gone!
