Donate and bequeath to the PLT Culture Fund

Stories connect, enrich and inspire. They open new perspectives and prompt reflection on society. Thanks to the PLT Cultuurfonds, PLT can continue to invest in education, talent development and special productions, precisely where regular resources fall short.

Your support is indispensable. This way, the theatre you love to visit remains a place of wonder, inspiration and development for all performing arts and an audience that can enjoy, learn and discover. Your support makes the difference.

A life of wonder, a legacy that remains.

"With my bequest, I give young talent the chance to grow up in the theatre that has brought me so much"

Including the PLT Culture Fund in your will

Making a will gives peace of mind and security: you know everything will be arranged the way you want it. It is also a time to reflect on how you want to shape your legacy and who or what you want to give a place to in the future. This way, you can also include the theatre you hold dear in your will, for example through a bequest, a legacy or a named fund.

Thanks to the PLT Culture Fund's (Cultural) ANBI status, bequeathing can also be fiscally attractive.

Donate to the PLT Culture Fund

Donating gives you the opportunity to contribute now to the theatre you love. With your donation, you directly enable education, talent development and special productions.

Thanks to the (Cultural) ANBI status of the PLT Culture Fund, donating can also be fiscally attractive.

As a member of the Theatre Circle, you will enjoy, among other things:

  • Annual invitations to special performances or festivals.

Donate or bequeath? Key questions answered

Your legacy, step by step

If you are considering including the PLT Culture Fund in your will, you will go through a number of clear steps. Below, we explain these step by step.

1. Inventory and orientation
Map out your assets and possessions and think about how you want to divide them between family, friends, charities or cultural causes.

2. Choice of bequest, legacy or named fund
Do you want to leave (part of) your assets? Then choose a bequest (fixed amount or specific asset), a reserved share or a named fund. It is also possible to name the PLT Culture Fund as sole heir.

3. Personal conversation
In a meeting with the PLT Culture Fund, we discuss your wishes and how your support will have the most impact for the theatre.

4. Visit to the notary
Are your wishes concrete? Then make an appointment with your notary to record them.

5. Signing the will
Your will is drawn up by the notary and confirmed with your signature. Your estate is then formally settled

6. Stay involved
As a donor or future testator, you remain connected to PLT. You will be invited to special meetings and presentations so that you can experience the impact of your contribution for yourself.

How will my contribution be spent?

Your gift to the PLT Culture Fund is carefully used for projects that truly strengthen the theatre. We focus on three main pillars:

1. Education
We support educational programmes that introduce young people in particular to theatre, music and other performing arts.

2. Talent development
Your contribution helps talent grow and develop so that new generations can find their place in the theatre landscape.

3. Special productions
We invest in unique performances and projects that might not otherwise be possible, keeping the theatre a stage for innovative and inspiring art.

In a personal meeting, we are happy to discuss your wishes and how your support can have the most impact. This way, you can be sure that your contribution will end up exactly where you think it is important.

What are the tax advantages of donating?

Did you know that a donation to the PLT Culture Fund fully benefits our objectives, while your contribution may cost you less net because the government co-pays? The PLT Culture Fund has the status of Cultural ANBI (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling) and is therefore exempt from gift and inheritance tax.

Gift deduction
Donations to the PLT Culture Fund are in many cases deductible in your income tax return. This applies to both one-off and periodic donations, whereby periodic donations usually offer the greatest tax advantage.

Periodic donation

  • Is recorded in a periodic donation agreement.
  • At least five consecutive years of annual fixed amount.
  • The obligation ends after the agreed period or upon the donor's death, disability or unemployment, or upon loss of the PLT Culture Fund's ANBI status.

One-off donation

  • Made all at once, with deduction under threshold and ceiling (1% and maximum 10% of aggregate income).

Additional tax benefit (25% increase)

Donations to cultural institutions may be increased by 25% when filing your tax return. This means that you may deduct a quarter more than you actually donate.

  • Applies to one-off and periodic donations.
  • Maximum additional deduction of € 1,250.

Theatre circle
To thank you for your periodic donation of € 1,500 or more, we invite you to join our Theatre Circle. Members of the Theaterkring stay involved with PLT in a special way, including through special gatherings and meetings.

Can I amend my will?

Yes, you can have your will amended through the notary at any time.

It is wise to review your will regularly, for example once every five years or when there are changes in your personal situation, such as marriage, divorce or the birth of (grand)children. Changes in legislation may also prompt you to have your will checked.

Please note that amending a will involves costs.

Information meetings on donating and bequeathing

A few times a year we organise meetings about donating and bequeathing. The possibilities and choices are explained and a notary is always present to explain the legal and practical aspects.

Each meeting also has a special programme: an inspiring story, a unique perspective or a meeting that shows what bequeathing can mean for culture and society.

For example, together with SCHUNCK, the Dutch Mining Museum, Discovery Museum, we will jointly organise a meeting on Friday 6 November in Kerkrade.

The meetings are non-binding and give plenty of room for questions and conversation.
