Start of the school year: thanks to Friends of PLT, thousands of children are experiencing theatre
Schools have started again. For many children in South Limburg, this means not only a new school year, but also a first encounter with theatre, music and dance. Thanks to the support of thousands of Friends of Parkstad Limburg Theatres (PLT), many pupils are able to take part in special school performances and cultural projects every year.
From a discount to something that matters
José Huveneers from Stein became a Friend of PLT for the benefits. The discount on tickets, two free tickets for a Friends’ performance, and the convenience of being able to cancel or exchange tickets. “To be honest,” she laughs, “that was my reason.”
But in the meantime, something has changed.
José attended two school performances at PLT’s invitation. At Philzuid’s Romeo and Juliet, children were allowed to put their own spin on the love story. At Skydiver during the schrit_tmacher Festival 2026, the young audience members were beaming. “I looked at those faces more than I looked at the stage,” says the former nursery school teacher. “I want every child to have that experience.”
Not every child naturally finds their way to the theatre. PLT makes school performances possible for children for whom this would otherwise be out of reach. That is what José now wholeheartedly supports — as a Boezemvriend, the second tier of membership in the PLT Friends family.
