A wonderful tradition.
No other country in the world loves Bach's St Matthew Passionas much as the Netherlands. Every year, tens of thousands of Dutch people attend one of over five hundred performances of Bach's music in the weeks before Easter. Why do so many people, including listeners who hardly ever attend classical concerts, love the St Matthew so intensely ? And what does Bach's music have to say, once you know what to listen to? These are the questions the Heerlen Oratorio Society wants to answer in its performance just before Easter. With the participation of Orkest Conservatoire, a children's choir and soloists.
