They have been the audience favourites on Dutch and international concert stages for years: Lucas and Arthur Jussen. The piano duo, which broke through at a young age and now performs worldwide with top orchestras and conductors, returns to Theater Heerlen with a compelling duo recital for two pianos.
The programme showcases their broad musical horizons and perfect interplay. From the hushed chorales of Johann Sebastian Bach to the rhythmic virtuosity of Lutosławski and the playful romanticism of Fauré. Brahms' Variations on a theme by Haydn and Ravel's dreamy Introduction et Allegro also come alive in their handiwork. The evening ends in sheer celebration with Gershwin's iconic Rhapsody in Blue - a fiery dialogue between classical and jazz that only really comes to its full splendour on two grand pianos.
