NOODKEET

Light-hearted and comical ‘disaster theatre’.

NOODKEET is a location-based performance that is as hilarious as it is heart-warming, about three doomsday preppers adrift in a chaotic world. The self-proclaimed survivors have retreated to a converted site hut on a piece of wasteland. There, they cook on an iron, generate electricity using a bicycle wheel and make up their own rules.

As they try to keep the chaos at bay, the question looms: what on earth are they preparing for? And what if? Can you break free from a system of which you are a part? Their refuge, intended as protection, is slowly turning into a prison. For in their quest for ultimate freedom, that freedom may well prove just as terrifying as the world from which they are fleeing. 

The idea for NOODKEET arose when the Leedbewakers wondered whether they should stock up on an emergency kit at home. That simple, almost absurd question sparked a lot of discussion, and the feeling of ‘what if?’ turned out to be a widely shared state of mind: from climate anxiety to digital mistrust, from self-reliance to the desire to withdraw from the world. With their performance, the Leedbewakers are responding to a time in which more and more people feel that the world is slipping away from them. Their fascination with ‘prepper’ culture therefore stems not from mockery, but from curiosity about the human urge to build one’s own little world amidst all the chaos out there.  

For NOODKEET, De Leedbewakers are joining forces with the Vis à Vis theatre company. In 2025, they collaborated on the successful theatre spectacle BABY BLUE. Vis à Vis’s productions have been staged at Cultura Nova on several occasions in the past.
