Bam - pats - boom! After an endless fall down a rabbit hole, Alice lands back on the ground. And then suddenly everything is different. For Wonderland, the world she tumbles into, looks nothing like what she is used to....
In the energetic new performance Alice in Wonderland, de Toneelmakerij and DOX take you on a dizzying adventure full of dance, music and magic. The normally very confident Alice gets lost between lakes of tears and rose gardens. One moment she is minuscule, the next meters high. No matter how well she thinks she knows: she cannot keep up with the panicking rabbit, the disapproving caterpillar and the headless cat. To make matters worse, there is an intrusive alter-ego, who challenges and contradicts her until Alice gets all giddy. The further she goes, the less she understands herself. Is she still the real Alice? Does one actually exist? In a whirlwind journey through a bizarre world, Alice searches for her own beat.

After previous successes such as Giselle (according to Het Parool the family performance of 2024) and Zilveren Krekel winner 1000+1 Nacht, de Toneelmakerij presents Alice in Wonderland , another family performance based on a world-famous classic. You will see the iconic characters from Alice in Wonderland in surprising guises: the Caterpillar as sassy musician, the Cat as graceful, elusive magician. Music and dance flow together in a dreamlike coming-of-age about letting go of what you already know, finding your voice and the power of not-knowing. Or as the Hatter says: We're all mad here!
