After a successful career as a stand-up comedian, Begijn le Bleu turned out to be a passionate ornithologist. With his popular podcast Fwiet! Fwiet! and the magazine of the same name, he conquered many a nature lover. Now he comes with a theatre lecture on... the sparrow. Because behind that small, everyday bird is a story bigger than you ever suspected. From patriotic history to Mao's China, from African steppes to staggering scientific insights: the house sparrow turns out to be an underdog with a world tour in its wings.

Begijn weaves humour, history and science into a sparkling tale full of wonder and sharp insights. Musically, he is assisted by the folk duo Naragonia, who add extra depth and magic to this special evening with atmospheric sounds. About a little bird with a big story. About the makers
Begijn Le Bleu is a Flemish stand-up comedian and one of the Foute Vrienden in the Flemish TV programme of the same name. He has put his comedy performances on hold indefinitely and developed into a bird expert. He is a regular guest as a scientist on the VRT Radio 2 programme De Weekwatcher and on radio station Joe. Naragonia is an established name in the European folk world. The duo was nominated two years in a row and won the award of 'Best Live Band' at the Flanders Folk Awards in 2024.
