U2's iconic hits in unique orchestral performance
Beyond the Music plays unique renditions of the greatest hits from the iconic album The Joshua Tree in this tribute to U2. The songs are performed by an amazing live band complemented by a string ensemble led by charismatic frontman Nigel Connell.
Step into the world of musical sensation Beyond the Music.
Beyond the Music was born out of a deep love of musical greats and a desire to honour them. The result is a sublime combination of contemporary rock music with grand orchestral arrangements that reinforce the core of the original work. That power also works through in this concert with other hits by U2.
Let’s Talk About... U2
Ahead of the performance by Beyond the Music at the Toon Hermans Theater in Sittard, we will host a short talk for a small fee of €4, exploring a remarkable chapter in Limburg’s pop music history. At the centre of the story is U2’s early performance at Donkiesjot in Sittard on 14 February 1981, at a time when Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. were only just beginning their rise to worldwide fame.
Through stories, images and conversations with eyewitnesses from that evening — as well as U2’s Pinkpop performance later that same year — a unique moment in time is brought back to life. A warm and nostalgic prelude to an evening filled with beloved U2 songs, memories and music history up close. The talk is hosted by Marco Smeets.
