A performance about mistrust and the power behind the medicine.
The CEO of a major pharmaceutical company is under threat. After a failed assassination attempt, the blame seems clear: the perpetrator has been incited by an online channel on which conspiracies about the company are spread. In a fit of rage, the CEO decides to visit the creators of the online channel at home. A confrontation full of misunderstanding, old wounds and revenge ensues.
The world of conspiracy theories
Eric de Vroedt creates a show about distrust and power with Big Pharma . In our country, a small group of pharmaceutical companies has great influence on our healthcare and thus our daily lives. Their drugs save lives, but also generate huge profits for the entrepreneurs and shareholders. How unfair is that system? Conspiracy thinkers see big pharma as part of a larger problem: our world is ruled by powerful, invisible forces. What happens when representatives from these worlds meet?
Eric de Vroedt: "When you delve into the world of conspiracy theories, you find yourself in a dark palace of mirrors where nothing is what it seems. Conspiracy theorists' facts are usually wrong, but their instincts sometimes are - even if they are often paranoid. Conspiracy thinkers expose how, more often than we like to admit, we are insufficiently critical of the systems around us."
