Sing Child Sing is a courageous act of transformation, an invitation to feel, confront and stand up.
In 2024, we experienced the world premiere of Until we sleep by Botis Seva/Far from the Norm at Theater Kerkrade . The Olivier Award-winning dance artist, choreographer and director returns with his solo Sing Child Sing; a probing and autobiographical portrait of a man, who faces the past and claims back his strength with fiery, embodied intent.
A visual work of art
Botis Seva works at the intersection of hip-hop, theatre, contemporary dance and film. His performances are visual artworks, tapping into profound feelings. In Sing Child Sing, he uses a unique mix of dance styles, from popping to breaking, krump to house, to unravel how emotions like abandonment, frustration and belief nestle in the body and can be passed from generation to generation as invisible legacies. And how to break with that past. Sing Child Sing is a courageous act of transformation. An invitation to feel, confront and stand up.
This performance is a co-production with schrit_tmacher NL.
