Blijven Dromen
In Blijven Dromen (Keep on Dreaming), Celine Weerts speaks honestly and personally about feeling stuck, searching, expectations, doubts and sometimes losing sight of yourself a little, but also about daring to choose once more what makes you happy.
With existing songs that support the story – ranging from quiet, contemplative tracks to familiar sing-alongs – and accompanied by Jan Willem Hoekstra on the piano, the result is a personal performance full of music, stories and room for spontaneity and interaction. Because perhaps we don’t need to be someone else first in order to do what makes us happy. Perhaps, sometimes, keeping on dreaming simply means… just getting started after all.
Do you have to know exactly who you are and where you’re going by the time you’re around thirty, or a bit older?
In a world full of expectations, everyone seems to know the perfect path. Except you. After an intense period in which she hit a complete dead end and stopped singing, singer and theatre maker Celine Weerts rediscovered her voice and her dreams. Not on the biggest stages she might have envisaged as a girl, but in places where music really matters: in the care sector and at ceremonies.
What began as ‘just a song programme’ grew into something that feels closest to her heart: an honest, intimate performance about doubts, growing up and losing yourself, but above all about daring to choose once more what makes you happy.
From delicate, contemplative songs to recognisable Limburg classics
Together with pianist Jan Willem Hoekstra, Celine presents a pure programme full of personal stories, humour and room for spontaneity. The music carries and ties the story together: from Stef Bos’s delicate, contemplative songs to recognisable Limburg classics such as ‘Blaosmuziek ’ and ‘Nao ’t Zuuje’.
Come and listen, watch and experience it all in the cosy small auditorium of Theater Kerkrade. Because perhaps we don’t need to be someone else first in order to do what makes us happy. Perhaps, sometimes, keeping on dreaming simply means… just getting started.
