Manuel Roque transforms his 2017 award-winning solo bang bang into a duet that he performs on stage with Nils Levazeux during schrit_tmacher.

A fascinating ordeal

bang bang is an ordeal. The piece consists of a repetition of jumps and athletic motifs in eleven beats each. It demands exceptional concentration and physical commitment and shows fighting spirit, resilience, but also the vulnerability of the performers, who undergo the ordeal together in this duet version. The strengths and weaknesses of both dancers melt together and the tight performance clashes with sweat. Over the course of fifty minutes, the performers' identities blur and keep jumping becomes absurd, poetic and political at the same time.
