Cultura Nova and PLT present the Dutch premiere of Entre chiens et louves (Between dogs and wolves).
This new performance by French company Cirque le Roux immerses us in a historical epic about three characters from different eras: a woman from 1870 who is oppressed by her husband, a married woman from 1960 who finds out she is attracted to women and eventually dies (presumably femicide), and a man from 2022 who fights against homophobia. All three stand up to be who they are.
Cine-circus
Cirque Le Roux is considered the inventor of the 'cine-circus'. Like a film, where the scenes unfold before your eyes in an impressive setting, the performers sketch a world full of hope with spectacular acrobatics, humour and dance. You are on the edge of your seat at this celebration of solidarity and human resilience. Poetically and poignantly, the characters show why we must keep fighting to counter prejudice and oppression.
Cirque Le Roux was nominated for the Molière Award for previous performances. It received the Circus of the Year Award from Le Parisien and a Palme d'Or at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
