A place where development, exchange and curiosity are central - for makers, dancers and audiences.
With its annual programme Club Guy & Roni invites, Club Guy & Roni createsspace for artistic encounters and exchange. In these performances, the dancers of the Poetic Disasters Club collaborate with guest choreographers and revive works from the Club Guy & Roni repertoire. In Pink Smoke, both artistic trajectories meet in WARQAD, a new work by choreographer Mohamed Yusuf Boss, and in FREIHEIT; a work by Guy & Roni about freedom and the boundaries we impose on each other.
WARQAD || Mohamed Yusuf Boss
WARQAD is an intimate dance performance about rituals of loss, inspired by Japanese traditions. WARQAD means paper in Somali. The production explores rituals that help us cope with loss. Large, fragile sheets of wax paper are used by the dancers as symbols of fragile, surviving memories. How do we relate to a world that is constantly fading away? Mohamed Yusuf Boss was also part of Club Guy & Roni Invites in season 2021/22 with the performance LABA.
FREIHEIT || Club Guy & Roni
FREIHEIT asks one simple but sharp question: where does my freedom end and where does yours begin? Created in 2019 with tanzmainz, the performance reflects on a world that promises endless choices, yet often feels restrictive. Every 3 minutes and 22 seconds, space, light and music change. The dancers move through ever-shifting boundaries between people and ideas, with the body becoming a place of liberation as well as confrontation.
Club Guy & Roni
