CONTRA is physical musical theatre about the police. With humour and compassion, this new performance by Wabi Sabi Theatre i.c.w. Het Houten Huis & Hiit casts a quirky and sharp look at the daily reality of police officers. You see how people fight for a more just society and how complicated that is.
The tensions between power and service, ideals and reality
The show is based on true stories and interviews with those directly involved, from mayors to neighbourhood policemen across the Netherlands. CONTRA presents a dazzling display of all the findings, taken from real life. In a stimulating mix of dance, text and live music, you get a glimpse into the heads and hearts of officers. What does it mean to enforce the law in a world full of chaos? How do you stay human in a system that creaks? CONTRA exposes the tensions between power and service, ideals and reality.
