De Broers van Arkel
Zeg maar uTheater Heerlen - Kleine Zaal
A dryly comic performance about two brothers' search for each other, manhood, the best juicer and something to believe in
Everyone gets older, but not everyone grows up. The Brothers van Arkel do. At least, they are working on it. Their father, the vicar, has retired and now it is their turn to become someone. Someone with a vision. A plan with their own coffee maker, matching tea towels, orthotics and a 12-piece screwdriver set. Someone who does weekly groceries every Saturday. Who doesn't have so many doubts about everything. Who doesn't have to outdo his brother every time. Someone to whom, without realising it, you say "you".
About the brothers
Jeroen and Martijn van Arkel are brothers, theatre makers and finalists of the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival 2025. Both studied at the Utrecht School of the Arts: Jeroen as an actor, Martijn as a writer. In Zeg maar u they join forces. And that results in a dryly comic performance full of absurdity and unexpected poetry. A search of two totally different brothers for each other, for being a man, for the best juicer and for something to believe in.
