Can 'percussion' also sing? And: can 'percussion' make melody and harmony? In Stravinsky' s Sacre, with which Philzuid opened the 2026-2027 theatre season on 26 September, rhythm takes over from harmony as the driving force in music. Tijmen clarifies how we can hear this in music. He also talks to artist in residence Dominique Vleeshouwers about the far-reaching consequences of this revolution, with musical contributions by Dominique.

Three Eavesdroppers

The Eavesdroppers are an ideal palate cleanser in our classical music programme every season. Tijmen Wehlburg is a music connoisseur par excellence. He knows his way to the finest peaks and depths in classical music: "It is sometimes difficult to fathom the depth of classical music. I love being able to give an insight into that. Knowing, by the way, that that peek usually creates a hunger for more."
