Documentary: The story of the Mijnstreek Oost Crew
Expected end time: 22:00 hour
Theater Kerkrade - MFzaal
Watch the impressive documentary about the influential hardcore scene of the Mijnstreek Oost Crew, followed by a Q&A.
The documentary *The Story of the Mijnstreek Oost Crew* tells the story of the hardcore, punk and metal scene that has played a significant role within the subculture of Parkstad and beyond since the late 1990s. The Mijnstreek Oost Crew (MOC) emerged from the Heerlen hardcore scene: a collective of bands and enthusiasts. Countless gigs were organised, laying the foundations for an alternative scene that is still very much alive today.
Born From Pain
The story of Born From Pain is also covered. This band, which emerged from the MOC, grew to become a major name within the European hardcore scene. This makes Born From Pain an important figurehead of this subculture.
Over the years, MOC became a name with which anyone who felt connected to heavy music could and was allowed to identify. It fostered a sense of connection: a place where you belonged. That feeling is still very much present today.
Q&A
An introductory talk will take place before the screening of the documentary. This will be followed by a short Q&A with key figures from the documentary. This time, the focus will be on the role of women within the scene. Both discussions will be led by the creators of the podcast *Bronsgroen Eikenhout*, South XVI.
This documentary was produced in collaboration with Outpoet and Rise Or Die Fest.
