A theatrical DJ set about how everyone is always in a state of transition.

In 30 minutes, Just van Bommel and Emma van den Elshout build up a dance party packed with substance, featuring live-mixed music, sharp, penetrating lyrics and dry humour. A performance which, just like ourselves, is in a constant state of transition, changing with the day (and night) and with the audience.

Just and Emma celebrate this change with songs about how it is that at parties there are always people (men) standing up against the wall. You’ll hear a hyper-pop anthem about how you don’t want to get into yet another discussion about gender (and what that means) at every family gathering, because you don’t really know it all that well yourself (yet). To top it all off, there’s an extremely auto-tuned ballad about how a skirt is actually just a pair of trousers, but with one opening for two legs, rather than two.

In this performance, everything remains up in the air. You don’t need to know anything for certain, and Just and Emma constantly contradict themselves too. Featuring samples from Paris Hilton and James Baldwin, as well as Judith Butler, Jinx Monsoon, Audre Lorde and Lady Gaga. Emma van den Elshout (she/her) (1998) and Just van Bommel (he/she/they) (1999) are theatre makers and performers. In 2022, they graduated from the Maastricht Theatre Academy, specialising in directing and performance respectively. Their first joint production, *Het Showtje*, was selected for VIA RUDOLPHI’s *Het Debuut 2022*. This was followed by *Het Spektakeltje * (Frascati Producties) and *Het Circusje * (Likeminds, De Parade and Festival Boulevard). Since 2025, Just and Emma have been affiliated with the talent development platform VIA ZUID. For their new work, TRANS-, they are joining forces with VIA ZUID and Likeminds.

Via Zuid supports emerging professional performing artists in and from Limburg on their path to a professional career. Together with partners such as Cultura Nova, talented creators are given the opportunity to surprise and enrich the world with their performances and projects.
