An evening of grungy blues and folk noir.

The darkest rocking troubadour of the Low Countries comes to Heerlen with the music from his latest album It has no Face. A record full of grungy blues and folk noir. With songs about war mongers, snake charmers, a catnapper, despots and apocalyptic performances, DUFFHUES leaves no stone unturned: the world has become a dark place, with a future without a face.

  • out of 5 stars ABR (UK)
"DUFFHUES has returned with a follow-up noir masterpiece, a dark-minded and sinister roadrunner, the brilliant and unforgettable It Has No Face."
  • out of 5 stars Luminous Dash (BE)
"His eye (and ear) tends towards the optimal... precision work pur sang." - Gonzo Circus (BE/NL) "Every track is completely Duffhues... A firm recommendation for anyone feeling dark 'n bluesy and wanting to get lost for a while in stories that you can find too much behind."
  • out of 5 stars OOR
"It's dark forces... It's horror, despair, the blues and 'dancing to the drum of the devil'."
  • out of 5 stars 3 for 12
"It is immediately clear: we are presented with a gritty, raw and surprisingly melodic journey."
  • out of 5 stars Nitestylez (DE)
"This is good stuff. Go check!"
  • out of 5 stars Freak Magnet (SE)
"From the first moment you are sucked into a troubadour madness that is difficult to escape without fire, but you don't want to, you just enjoy it..."
  • out of 5 stars Maxazine
"DUFFHUES combines atypical song structures with personal lyrics and artistic vision... an intense and intriguing listening experience."
  • out of 5 stars Written in Music
"It Has No Face is much more than a roots record... The basis is the blues, although the greyness of post-punk and the emptiness of grunge do shimmer through there."

Storyteller

The work of DUFFHUES is fundamentally based on the ancient craft of the troubadour, who observes the world and tells about it; with sharpness, a certain tragedy and completely contemporary. His songs are like short stories with a quirky, existentialist view of the world. Sometimes with a plot but more often not: with characters or reflections, whether or not anchored in the imagination or current events. The human image he sketches is tragic and melancholic. "It is horror, despair, the blues and 'dancing to the drum of the devil'," says OOR.
