Een vis kan niet vallen
Stichting NyxlandTheater Kerkrade - MFzaal
The one-woman-show of a deep-sea diva.
Xam (16 years old) is standing in the changing area of the swimming pool. She hears screaming girls, banging boys, and goes to do what she loves most: swim. Swimming costume on, towel over her shoulder, but suddenly she doesn't know how to open the cubicle.
Theatre group Nyxland starts from the personal stories of young people and, with Een vis kan niet vallen, creates a musical performance in which Xam shows a form of freedom she wishes for herself and everyone else. From her bathing shack, this deep-sea diva is awash with Sjengen, orcas, Disney and all that jazz. If only on earth it was like deep sea where it doesn't matter if your fins are blue or orange, you just exist.
Dreams of a boundless world
Xam dreams of the boundless world she took for granted as a 4-year-old. Even then, she swam determinedly against the current as she refused her own trousers and stole her sister's skirts. Now she stands against the tide, in a changing room, entangled in the why-question of everyone around her. Xam is a perfectly normal girl who loves drama, singing and musicals. Isn't that enough? Or is that already too much?
