GoYa opens the Beethoven Year 2027 in PLT with the holy grail among string quartets.
The four young string players of the GoYa Quartet met within the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. They then played together in the Orchestre de Paris and Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie in Brussels. They chose for their own quartet the name GoYa, Urdu for the idea of believing in something to such an extent that it almost becomes true. And their dream came true: GoYa is considered one of the most remarkable young string quartets in Europe today. At PLT, the foursome will open Beethoven Year 2027 with the holy grail among string quartets: Beethoven's Opus 130 from his String Quartet No. 13 .
A masterpiece
Beethoven'sString Quartet No 13 in B-flat major, Opus 130 is known as one of his most profound and revolutionary works of Beethoven's late period. Famous for its emotional range, unconventional structure and the daring finale: theGrosse Fuge. Labeled "incomprehensible", even "horrifying" by contemporaries, this fugue is now recognised as a masterpiece of musical revolutionary power. It is certainly entrusted to the great talents of GoYa Quartet. As a prelude, they lift Alfred's String Quartet No 3 , also based on Beethoven, into the 20th century.
