Grandbrothers: piano, electronics and experimentation
Just how versatile can a grand piano sound? Grandbrothers explore the possibilities with virtuoso piano playing and self-developed electronics. The Düsseldorf-based duo move between neoclassical, ambient and electronic music. On 18 March, you can experience their sound live at the Nieuwe Nor.
This concert is organised in collaboration with Poppodium Nieuwe Nor.
One grand piano, a world of sounds
The focus is on pianist Erol Sarp’s grand piano. Using a system he developed himself, Lukas Vogel plays the strings and soundboard in an unconventional way. This creates not only melodies but also beats, percussion and electronic soundscapes. Together, they create a dynamic live show in which acoustic piano and electronics enhance one another.
From subdued melodies to driving rhythms
Fans of Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and Kiasmos will be in their element with Grandbrothers. The duo have a sound all of their own, featuring cinematic passages and rhythmic sections that build up gradually. Let yourself be carried away by moments of tranquillity and driving rhythms, with the grand piano sounding different every time.
