An expressive and musical search for a sister.
On Sunday 21 February, the Toon Hermans Theatre is hosting the youth and family theatre festival PLUUSJ. With Heb je mijn zusje gezien? (Have you seen my little sister?), this mini-festival is full of fun for toddlers and (grand)parents.
Sometimes you can't find something. A sock, a cuddly toy... or your sister. In the cheerful family performance Heb je mijn zusje gezien? a child goes on a search. Along the way, she asks everyone the same question: have you seen my sister? But no one seems to have seen her... Or have they?
The performance is based on Joke van Leeuwen's award-winning picture book. Using her drawings as inspiration, characters, scenery and costumes come to life. Joke herself is on stage as narrator, illustrator and musician, together with actress Sarah Jonker.
About the makers
Maastricht-based theatre company Hoge Fronten creates visual performances and shows in the theatre and on location; for youth, families and adults. Led by Lieke Benders, Hoge Fronten creates heartwarming imaginative and visual theatre with a playful touch that takes everyone, young and old, seriously.
Theatre maker Lieke Benders has been working successfully with Joke van Leeuwen for some time. For instance, she based the performance Niet wiet, wel nel ( winner Zilveren Krekel 2013) on the book of the same name and Joke wrote a new text for Niet vergeten. In Heb je mijn zusje gezien? and in Hoeheettut, nominated for the PodiumKids Publieksprijs 2024, Joke van Leeuwen herself is on stage. After previous successful tours of the Netherlands and Flanders, Heb je mijn zusje gezien? returns in season 2026-2027 for a new generation of 2.5-year-olds.
