A fictional encounter that could have changed the course of history.

What if Hitler and Beuys had met? Why those two! Because art might save the world after all... Joseph Beuys believed that every person was an artist and could change the world with art. That's why he wanted to admit everyone to his classes at the art academy. So would Adolf Hitler, aspiring painter who was rejected twice for art school, have become a dictator?

In I Like Art and Art Likes Me, the two meet in the theatre arena. Silke van Kamp is a sucker for rewriting stories. She caused a furore last year with F*CK LOLITA for which she and writer Annet Bremen rewrote the story of Nabokov's iconic novel heroine Lolita. Now she organises a fictional encounter that could have changed the course of history áf it had happened!

About the makers

Silke van Kamp is a theatre and film director. In her work, she investigates how the individual relates to the masses. She denounces social constructs and exposes social dynamics. With her actors, she creates recognisable characters of flesh and blood. Her performances are raw and intimate, layered and winged with humour.

Het Zuidelijk Toneel is the company of the South and tours from its home town Tilburg throughout the Netherlands and Flanders.
