With ROUGE, choreographer Isabelle Beernaert presents a new creation that goes to the heart of her artistic signature. For 40 years, she has enchanted a wide audience with creations in which dance, emotion and inner experience merge into a universal and physical form of storytelling.
In ROUGE, she returns to the primal power of the body. Stomping feet, trembling earth and exhilarating bodies are the starting point of a raw dance ritual in which fury, vulnerability and life instinct come together. The dancers move between explosion and stillness, between control and surrender. The colour red is the beating heart of the performance. Red is blood, heartbeat and fire. It is life flowing through our bodies. In ROUGE, this energy becomes visible, audible and tangible.
