Antwerp Symphony Orchestra
The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra is the symphony orchestra of Flanders and Belgium, based in the renowned Queen Elizabeth Hall in Antwerp. Working closely with conductor emeritus Jaap van Zweden, the orchestra performs concerts on the biggest stages at home and abroad. From season 2026-2027, Marc Albrecht will take over as chief conductor of the orchestra.
Jaap van Zweden
The whole world has already been introduced to Jaap van Zweden. Antwerp was able to enjoy his talent as chief of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra between 2008 and 2011. In 2012 he was named 'Conductor of the Year' by music magazine Musical America and in Asia he caused a furore with the very first performances of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen in Hong Kong. The ultimate crowning achievement came in 2018, when he became chief conductor of the New York Philharmonic, where Gustav Mahler and Leonard Bernstein, among others, preceded him. Since 2024-2025, he has been appointed principal conductor at Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and from 2026-2027, his principal conductorship will start at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
Bruce Liu
Young master pianist Bruce Liu grew up in Montreal. He won first prize at the 18th Chopin Piano Competition in 2021, after which his international career took off. A pianist 'evoking Shura Cherkassky and Georges Cziffra in a single breath', the leading Gramophone Magazine wrote about this great talent.
