Nico 111
Kirchröadsjer SjpetsiejalieteetTheater Kerkrade - Grote Zaal
An afternoon of music, remembrance and cordiality. A deep bow to Kerkrade's unforgettable composer and city poet. And a celebration of Limburg's heritage.
This year, city poet, composer and Kerkrade native Nico Ploum would have been 111 years old. That special number calls for a celebration of his unique sound world, which has touched generations and is still alive and kicking. During Nico 111 , the Koninklijke Harmonie St. Philomena Chevremont will play compositions by Ploum, in brilliant performances by Kim Savelsberg, Kirsten Dortants, Joost Meijs, Jean Noël and Roy Jorissen.
Music, poetry and anecdotes
The concert will open with the brand new work Nico 111, which internationally renowned HaFa composer Hardy Mertens has written especially for this afternoon. Between the musical memories, language will also shine. Maurice Hinzen, Kerkrade's current city poet, will read a selection of Nico Ploum's poems as well as dedicate a poem of his own, written especially for this occasion. Marc Hermans will add lustre to the afternoon with lively anecdotes and original recordings of Nico Ploum.
This special afternoon is organised in cooperation with Stg Behoud Limburgs Erfgoed.
