Hooray... Het prentenboekjesfestival (The Picture Book Festival) is also coming to the Toon Hermans Theatre for the first time. This festival for minis is a theatrical playground where toddlers make their own stories and are read to. Where they can transform into their favourite character from picture books. And where they dance, draw and play, until they get to go to the performance to experience an exciting adventure with a little mole And lots of poop!
A hilarious slapstick performance for 2 years and above.
What parent does not know the story Over een kleine mol die wil weten wie er op zijn kop gepoept heeft (About a little mole who wants to know who pooped on his head) by Werner Holzwarth and Wolf Erlbruch. It will have been read out countless times by now. Mr Monster brings the classic to the stage in an almost wordless but hilarious slapstick performance for 2 years and above.
When mole comes upstairs to see if the sun is up yet, suddenly there is a poop on his head. Poop! How gross! Mole goes in search of the culprit and meets a lot of animals. One by one, pigeon, horse, hare, goat and pig make it clear that at least it wasn't them.... But then fortunately two shitflies are there to help the visually impaired mole further.

Imagine: you step into a theatre for the first time, but you don't see a foyer - you see an amazing play environment all about picture books!
That is what happens to toddlers and preschoolers when they visit this festival. Their first theatre experience will be a feast of recognition, discovery and fun. With several performances and a playground where there is plenty to do, the festival feels like a big adventure. A place where books come to life and theatre becomes one big journey of discovery.
