Fake set and real blood in chilling theatre thriller.
Hot summer days. A woman seeks coolness, circling between kitchen table and window. The television on the table spits out images, in the window a star twinkles even during the day. The woman shares her solitude (and a bowl of water) with a street dog that visits her from time to time. An intrusive neighbour pops up all over the place: at the window, the door and eventually in the house, even at the table.
What is going on here? And why is there blood on the floor?
In this low-text play, it is up to the audience to reconstruct the story that looms before you like a puzzle of images. In Silence of the Dogs, Ada Ozdogan portrays the resistance of a lonely woman in a hectic and threatening world. She does so with a fat nod to the film world: Hitchcockian suspense meets Tarentino-like violence meets Chantal Akerman's eye for the female experience. Starring Keja Klaasje Kwestro, who made a smashing impression last season in F*CK Lolita.
