Exciting musical theatre in the autumn holidays about being good and setting boundaries.
Chelsey is nervous. It is her first day of school in a new class and she is playing shop with her classmates. "I'll do anything they want," she thinks. "I'll follow their rules, be nice, helpful, anything, as long as I belong," but things go wrong. Her big sister Luca comes to the rescue. Or is she making everything worse?
Chelsey is sweet, Luca is bossy. Chelsey helps others, Luca thinks only of herself. Chelsey follows the rules, Luca sets the rules. And Luca is already in grade 7. He'll come and teach those kids a lesson. But will they ever want to play with Chelsey after that? Or will it be over for good?
How to be nice to others, but also to yourself?
SUPERMENS wanted is loosely based on Bertolt Brecht's The Good Man of Sezuan, about a girl with a shop who cannot set limits. Out of concern for her villagers, she gives everything away for free and nearly goes bankrupt. Until her acerbic alter-ego comes to put things in order and demands everything back. Theatre Sonnevanck captures this story in rousing musical theatre about the question of how to take care of yourself and others, but at the same time. How to be kind to others, but also to yourself? And why is it so hard to say no? Or... do we all always need a big sister?
