A tribute to two heroes from the North
Talen & Streken 3 features a Frisian and a Groninger together in one programme. They are no strangers. With Piter Wilkens from Friesland, Paul van Loo and Ivo Rosbeek played together in Theatre Lexor and the Monastery Library of Wittem. Together with Erwin de Vries from Groningen, Ivo recorded the song De rais. Now the Frisian and Groninger are together in one programme in Heerlen.
A Frysk trûbadoer
Piter Wilkens is a leader in Frisian-language music. He started his career with the legendary Frisian-language rock band Okke Hel but continued solo as 'Frysk trûbadoer' after 1986. Piter has more than ten solo albums to his credit. He translated the Swedish work of Cornelis Vreeswijk, participated in the Leonard Cohen in Frisian project and performed in several theatre shows. Yet he is mostly appreciated for his own songs. For more than a quarter of a century, he has been in Omrop Fryslân's Fryske Top-100 every year with the most listings.
A great Groninger
Erwin started as the frontman of the Groningen-language pop band Deheleboel. He recorded ten albums, won several music awards and toured theatres together with the Noord Nederlands Orkest. He is also active as a presenter, voice-over, actor or table host at RTV Noord. His hilarious song Maffiosa has been listened to almost 1 million times on Spotify. Be surprised by his height, bare feet, charisma, humour and special songs.
