Talen & Streken returns in season 2026/2027. Guitarist, singer and songwriter Skinnie from Sittard and the Belgian band Tour kick off with music in which it is very pleasant to linger.
Skinnie
Skinnie from Sittard has a long artistic past as guitarist, singer and songwriter of English-speaking bands like Red Blood and Mo'Jones. He played at North Sea Jazz Festival, Pinkpop and made four albums with the music collective around Jack Poels, Herberg de Troost. Since he has been going solo, he has also written four CDs, the last of which Op eige Krach in 2024. Tranquil, rich compositions full of sensitive notes, technically groomed guitar playing and his very pleasant, creamy and coffee-brown voice. Skinnie has the quiet power of the ordinary, the mundane and is a craftsman as artistic as he is artisanal; an artist who can play an attentive listening audience whisper-quiet with minimal means. Intimately, together with his regular accompanist and guitarist Tom Lanjouw.
TOUR (BE) - Haeivers
In the summer of 2023, TOUR converted an empty barn in Zutendaal into a temporary studio. There he recorded ten songs, sung in the Zutendaal dialect with building blocks of country music: the land (the country), the country (the bütte) and the people (the minse). The songs overflow with longing, describing their own longing for the village and the stories of the ancients, war refugees and asylum seekers currently living there. In the music, you can hear elements of European folk, American country and snatches of musical traditions from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria and Eritrea, among others. The songs come together on the album Haeivers, the Zutendaal word for going home. Haeivers is Loes Gerits (piano, organ, harmonium and vocals), Bert Hornikx (drums and percussion), Myrthe Luyten (electric bass guitar and vocals), Stijn Segers (acoustic guitar and vocals), Gert Stinckens (electric guitar, lapsteel guitar and vocals), Lotte Vanhamel (bass clarinet, flute and vocals), Ciska Vanhoyland (mellotron and vocals)
