A three-day rave condensed into a streamlined 60-minute performance.
The Butterfly Who Flew Into the Rave is a multi-award-winning performance by New Zealand creators/dancers Oli Mathiesen, Lucy Lynch and Sharvon Mortimer. The performance showcases a 60-minute rave to the thumping techno of Suburban Knight's album Nocturbulous Behaviour, which severely tests the performers' stamina.
'A powerhouse' on every possible front
The butterfly who flew into the rave zooms in on the movement vocabulary of techno and rave culture. You will see incessant movement, seamless and uninterrupted, tuned to every beat in detail. The atmosphere and culture of a three-day rave condensed into a streamlined performance, in which you watch the downfall of three people unfold before your eyes. A demonstration of pure endurance, in which the human body falls victim to music, passion and our endless urge to always want more. "This work is a powerhouse in all aspects," says Theatreview.
