On his just-released ninth album Achteraaf Bekeke, Ton Engels goes back to where it all began: the village, the street, the people of yesteryear. In a handful of new songs, he paints the everyday existence of the 1950s and 1960s with warm melodies and rapt observations.
In the eponymous theatre programme, Ton takes you back to those days of clotheslines in the garden, mopeds on the square, local shops, Sundays at grandma's and stories that circulated even before there was television. With warm songs, gentle humour and recognisable scenes, Ton builds a musical photo album full of moments you thoughtlessly recognise: the little things that secretly turned out to be the greatest.
