The whole drum band is coming along!
Minimalist, eclectic and poetic, with a touch of the strange. That is the music of Zea, aka the Frisian singer-songwriter Arnold de Boer, who is also the frontman of The Ex. His music is intimate, sincere and poetic, yet at times highly energetic, urgent, idiosyncratic and driven by syncopated, trance-like guitar playing. He recorded his latest Frisian-language album, *In lichem fol beloften*, with the Hallelujah Drum Band from his home village of Makkum, which also features his 80-year-old father. Good news: the entire fifteen-piece drum band is coming along to Cultura Nova, which is a unique event given the size of this ensemble. Expect a marvellous encounter between avant-garde and comforting, rattling percussion.
