That day, dance for all ages, from babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers to (young) adults, can be seen in Theater Heerlen. With fun workshops, surprising performances and lots of dance in the theatre's foyer. The schrit_tmacher Family Day is a big dance party for everyone. Also for film lovers - of all ages.
The ballet classic in a contemporary version starring top dancers
In the dance film Coppelia , the young love between Zwaantje and Frans is threatened by the beautiful Coppelia. She is the creation of Dr Coppelius, a cosmetic doctor, who seduces the villagers with the idea of perfect beauty. Frans is also enchanted by her. But the headstrong Zwaantje discovers that Dr Coppelius has mostly evil intentions. In his 'beauty salon', he steals the villagers' unique character traits. Frans' love-filled heart is the last thing he needs to revive Coppelia. Swan does everything possible to save Frans from a terrible end.
Coppelia is a 2019 modern fairy tale based on the classical ballet, starring international star dancers Igone de Jongh, Jan Kooijman, Vito Mazzeo, Daniel Camargo and the sadly now deceased Michaela DePrince, who danced with the Dutch National Ballet for many years.
