In De Belangelozen we follow Sam; a volunteer with lots of energy and big ideals. Sam devotes himself wholeheartedly to helping people with money problems. He helps them through piles of letters, calls creditors and does all this with an unshakeable belief in the participation society. In fast-paced, recognisable scenes, this urgent and humorous performance paints an honest portrait of the millions of volunteers who do what the government fails to do.

The perspective of the volunteer

De Belangelozen is about how we deal with an ever-growing group of people in poverty. About the beauty, but also the sustainability of the whole ecosystem of volunteers and organisations that have jumped into the hole left by the government. About Sam. The performance was made in close cooperation with association Humanitas. In the run-up to this performance, the makers joined them as volunteers in order to sketch, up close, a recognisable and human perspective of what it means to be a volunteer.

About the makers

Collective T&T creates social performances with slightly humorous, sometimes absurdist undertones. Via Rudolphi Productions is a theatre house that works with autonomous acting makers. From recently graduated top talents to seasoned professionals who have seen the whole world. Makers with a mission: they tell their own stories that are not told enough and try to shed new light on them. Their performances are recognisable, appealing, stimulating, emancipating, confrontational, sometimes uncomfortable, quasi-realistic, with a touch of tragedy and plenty of humour.
