Filmhuis de Spiegel at PLT, Theater Heerlen
The iconic Royal Theatre recently closed its doors for a major refurbishment and extension. Whilst the refurbishment is underway, you can watch films from Filmhuis de Spiegel in the Kleine Zaal at Theater Heerlen. You can find the current programme below!
The Royal is set for a new future
The Royal Theatre, built in 1938, is set to undergo a major refurbishment. The listed building is expanding to include new catering facilities and two additional cinema screens. In this way, Royal is preparing for the future. During the refurbishment, Filmhuis de Spiegel will temporarily move to Theater Heerlen. There will still be space for special films, gatherings and discussions – just as you’d expect from an arthouse cinema.
Filmhuis de Spiegel continues to surprise
Filmhuis de Spiegel has been a fixture in the region for years. Film lovers can find arthouse films, documentaries, classics and surprising stories from all over the world there.
A familiar place for film
PLT feels like a familiar place to Filmhuis de Spiegel. Around the turn of the century, the cinema had already been screening films at the theatre for some time. Now we’re coming together again. At PLT, we believe it’s important that film remains visible in the region. That’s why we’re happy to temporarily host the cinema here. Our own theatre programme will continue as usual. We are carefully planning the film screenings to fit in with this. And who knows, perhaps this will lead to more than just a temporary collaboration. Maybe this period will bring new ideas, new encounters and a new audience.
