An adventurous family musical about pride, greed and love.
After the musical Efteling tells ... Joris and the Dragon, the Efteling brings the exciting story of Baron 1898 to our stage. In this family musical , young Jochem and the traveller Gustav meet in the inn of a small village on the Zompige Heide. Gustav is on his way to his great love in a faraway land. He fervently tells Jochem about his adventures and on his departure Jochem helps him cross the dangerous Zompige Heide.
The greedy Baron Hooghmoed
A few years later, Gustav returns to the village inn. No longer as an adventurer, but as the greedy Baron Hooghmoed. He has changed since he discovered that gold can be found deep in the soil of the Zompige Heide. Blinded by the glint of gold, everything has to give way: his great love, the nature surrounding the Zompige Heide, Jochem. Everything.
Will the baron destroy the Zompige Heide to satisfy his hunger for gold? Does Jochem realise in time that it is up to him to save his village and all the nature around it from destruction? And who are those elusive singing figures, emerging from the mist at dusk? You will experience it in this new Efteling musical.
