The Cycle of Love

Synopsis

When the young Indian PK falls in love with the Swedish girl Lotta, a remarkable prophecy from his childhood seems to be coming true. But when Lotta returns to Sweden and he hears nothing more from her, PK decides to set off in pursuit. With hardly any money to his name, he sets off on a second-hand bicycle for a journey of over 10,000 kilometres.

PK is a Dalit, born at the very bottom of the Indian caste system and raised in poverty and exclusion. His journey takes him through unfamiliar lands, over mountain passes and along endless roads. Along the way, he relies on the people he meets and on his conviction that Lotta is waiting for him at the end of the journey.

Years later, Oscar-winner Orlando von Einsiedel joins PK once more to retrace the route that changed his life. Through re-enactments, interviews and encounters along the way, *The Cycle of Love* tells an almost unbelievable true story of love, perseverance and the unexpected kindness of strangers.
