Dutch Theatre Gala: double award for F*CK LOLITA
Last weekend, the Dutch Theatre Gala took place at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam, the evening on which the most important awards in Dutch theatre are presented. An extra reason for us to be proud: F*CK LOLITA, the production we hosted last season, took home two awards.
Annet Bremen won the 2026 Playwriting Prize for her script. She wrote F*CK LOLITA on commission from director Silke van Kamp: a sharp and multi-layered duet between Lolita and Humbert Humbert, which tackles head-on a topical issue concerning the sexualisation of young women. The jury praised her passion, her language and her craftsmanship. Lead actress Keja Klaasje Kwestro was also honoured: she received the Theo d’Or for the most impressive leading role of the season, praised for her originality, courage and technical virtuosity.
A lovely detail: Annet Bremen is from Heerlen. Home-grown talent reaching the national stage – that is precisely what we, as a theatre, are keen to provide a platform for. We believe in providing a platform for forward-thinking creators, and see that conviction confirmed in a production such as F*CK LOLITA. Coincidence or not: both Bremen and Kwestro were previously associated with Via Zuid.
Congratulations, Annet and Keja. We’re proud to have been able to provide a stage for your production, and we’re eagerly looking forward to what comes next.
