A taboo-breaking performance about harsh grandstanding and weak stereotypes.
Why are there penises drawn on the school toilet door but never vulvas? Can balls really turn blue? Is it true that boys always feel like sex? And why is talking about sex often so uncomfortable?
In De Kleine PEEP Show, actors Joppe Klein and Joe Sinduhije kick in the dick-filled toilet door of dusty sex education. Gone are cucumbers, "ask your parents for that" and talking points about STDs. In this performance, hilarious skits, catchy songs, and vulnerable personal experiences fly around your ears. In the audience, you are invited to look beyond your own insecurity, shame and prejudice to what is most important: fun!
De Kleine PEEP Show is a co-production of Toneelgroep Maastricht and Het Laagland. The show breaks taboos and finally answers questions that everyone sometimes has, but no one dares to ask out loud.
About the makers
In 2023, theatre makers Judith and Rajja worked for a year on behalf of Het Laagland as artist in school at a secondary school in Geleen. There, they marvelled at the fixed and normative image that many young people in particular have of sex, sexuality and gender roles. And how this (unconsciously) limits many young people in their search for sexual pleasure. That image may be rattled; De Kleine PEEP Show enters into an open conversation about masculinity and sex.
