Synopsis
It is 1985. The Cure and Imagination are in the charts, Kohl and Mitterrand are shaping the world stage, and Vincent, who is almost thirteen, has more important things on his mind: falling in love.
Vincent is growing up in a Parisian suburb, where his family is slowly beginning to fall apart. His father, Yves (Louis Garrel), has lost his job but keeps this a closely guarded secret. His mother, Sandrine (Camille Cottin), is fed up with her life as a secretary and longs for something new. And Vincent? Amidst all the arguments, insecurities and teenage turmoil, he is mainly trying to figure out who he actually is.
Using music, fashion and radio games as a time machine, Nakache and Toledano pay a warm tribute to the 1980s. But behind all the nostalgia lies a timeless story about falling in love, growing up and, sometimes, having to rediscover why you ever chose each other in the first place.
